About Us

How On Earth was started by Margie and Michael Baldwin in 2007.  As founders of the Marion Institute, they were keenly interested in sustainable communities and the role that food and local farming played. The original concept was to have a CSA ( where shares of local produce are picked up by shareholders on a weekly basis) provided by a local farmer and to use the store as a pick up site.  As interest grew and others wanted fresh food, more products were provided and a kitchen was added to make our own food. Today we have a full range of local, organic produce, locally sourced grocery items, bulk liquids and dry goods, gluten free, vegan and non GMO foods.  We continue to buy from local farms and all our meats are hormone and antibiotic free as is our milk.  Cheese is as local as possible and our baked goods are either in house or from the area. We have grown to become a one stop shop for all of your local and sustainable grocery needs. We serve lunch Monday- Saturday 11-3pm and also do catering.  We have added a community kitchen for local entrepreneurs to make their products for sale in our store as well as other wholesale markets. Our mission remains the same today- to provide fresh, local and organic food to the best of our ability for the health and welfare of our customers and our community.  KNOW YOUR FARMER, KNOW YOUR FOOD.
